Youth Leadership Committee Co-Chair
As ‘The Shape Shifter,’ Ava (they/she) moves seamlessly between art, advocacy and academia.
They serve as BAGLY’s YLC co-chair with the incomparable Elle and previously held space as the AAPI meeting facilitator.
A pre-med student at Tufts and SMFA, Ava splits their time between community health and the studio, where zines and riso prints bring their visions to life.
When not leading or creating, they’re indulging in sweet treats, trash TV, and a love for all things cat — even if they have a small dog waiting at home.
What advice would you give to other young, queer and trans people who are still trying to find their path to their own fairy tale?
“The sky is the limit, and a fairytale in itself is also largely dependent on your own imagination of what you can create inside of your own world.
And I would encourage people to not be limited by the lived reality of what we're experiencing right now and the uncertainty of what's going on in politics and that there are ways that we can overcome those obstacles and find the joy and inspiration regardless of that.
Like as the question says, it's your own fairy tale, so don't let anyone tell you what it is and what it isn't, because it's your own story.”
