Elle (she/they) is ‘The Ember Oracle,’ who burns bright with purpose. A senior in High School, Elle joined BAGLY in December 2023 to lead the Girls’ Room, creating a space where trans femme young adults could gather and grow.
By August 2024, they stepped into the role of Co-Chair to sharpen their skills in nonprofit leadership and community organizing.
Their bottomless pursuit of knowledge in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, economics, and gender studies fuels the fire within them.
Beyond studying and organizing, they lead at Teens Acting for Social Change and co-run Off-Brand.
What advice would you give to other young queer and trans people who are still trying to find their path in their own fairy tale?
“Once you have those sorts of realizations about who you are and how you want to represent yourself in the world; it can feel like, “I need to make sure that I can do this right away so people understand.”
But I think it's important to do it on your own time, and not on the time that you think others will pick up on it quicker. But I think being able to explore it within yourself and make choices maybe about how you present to certain people, and allowing certain people into your journey, and then gradually building on that.
Sort of on that note, coming out can be like a constant process, it doesn't have to be just one gigantic moment where your whole world changes. I think you can let people in gradually, as you realize that they trust you and you trust them, and they will support you, and vice versa.
So, I would say just being able to process your journey on your own time and on your own terms; and also that it's great to turn to media representation or other trans people that you know, but also knowing that your journey and your exploration does not have to be and probably is not going to be the same as theirs.”
