Outreach Specialist

Sam (he/they), ‘The Guardian,’ is a queer trans masc and a rising senior with a heart full of purpose and a major in art history and arts administration.

By day, they support BAGLY’s Development team. By night, they lead a Trans YA book club at QT Library, cultivating a space where stories protect and empower.

A quiet force, Sam shares vital resources with those most targeted in this era of tyranny, ensuring no one is left behind.

Between the battles, they recharge with analog photography, The Sims, and their tiny trio of companions: a turtle, a gecko, and a cat.

What advice would you give to other young queer and trans people who are still trying to find their path to their own fairy tale?

“A lot of it, especially with being queer and trans, has always been told that you have to do alone, of figuring out your sexuality and gender alone.

A lot of times when I do speaking engagements or do outreach events for BAGLY, we have the question of like people not feeling queer enough to come to our space, where I really try to emphasize that you can just come; we’re not checking you at the door, there’s no such thing as being queer enough or trans enough, and that you can just be and that so many people are going through the exact same thing that you are.”
