Youth Leadership and Advocacy Peer Leader

Chahat (she/her) walks the line between worlds: student and activist, dreamer and doer, quiet and unshakable.

As ‘The Fae,’ they channel a deep connection to change, rooted in advocacy for LGBTQIA+ rights, climate justice, and mental health.

Their love for both biology and political science pushes them to understand the systems within and around us, so that they might one day reimagine a better world.

In moments of respite, they read, rollerblade, and share long walks with their dog.

In many fairy tales, characters stand up for what's right. What has BAGLY taught you or inspired in you that's helped you do the same in your own life?

“BAGLY has taught me that advocacy doesn't always have to be loud to be powerful.

It can be in the ways you make room for others, or how you speak up in rooms where silence used to feel safer.

Being a part of BAGLY inspired me to stand up for myself and others in ways that feel authentic, whether that's making sure someone feels seen or heard, or by pushing for more inclusive programming or creating spaces like QuAC (Queer Activist College) where people can exist at the intersection of queerness and culture without having to compromise either.

It helped me realize that standing up for what's right can start with a single act of clarity or kindness, and those small moments build the courage to take on bigger ones.”
